Save the date for the 3rd annual Charity Shootout!
by posted 02/16/2017

Hi All,

As we are coming toward the end of basketball and wrestling season and with baseball, lacrosse and spring soccer just around the corner, there is one event that has now become a right of passage, but most importantly is for a great cause.  The past couple years, Jordyn Betlow, MTMS 8th grader, along with her mom, Pam have conducted a charity shootout to benefit Rally Cap Sports (formerly known as Challenged Youth Sports), founded in Middletown, NJ.  This fund-raiser benefits this non-profit organization, which provides the opportunity for special needs children to participate in all types of sports (much like "Challenger Day" we host each spring as part of the baseball season calendar).  Rally Cap Sports has also now commenced an expansion effort so that more opportunities for these children are available across the country and not just in Middletown, NJ.  This year, Jordyn is hosting the Charity Shootout on February 25, 2017 at MTMS and it only takes a few minutes out of your day to show up and shoot at any time, help rebound for other participants between 1pm-4pm.  What better way for both kids and adults to come have loads of fun with the music blasting in the gym while benefiting those that may not be able to do the same.

Attached is a sponsor sheet Jordyn provided so that you can get started soliciting contributions.  You obviously don't have to be a basketball player to participate, so we're hoping that all players will come help out and also participate in raising money for this organization that has become very important to Jordyn.

DATE:  FEBRUARY 25

TIME:   1pm until 4pm

PLACE:  Mendham Township Middle School

Thanks.

Upcoming Important Dates for Baseball and Softball
by posted 02/16/2017

Hi CMLL families,

By now, you should have all received emails regarding winter training beginning this weekend.  If you haven't received an email from me with your team, chances are you aren't registered.  Please check your account to see if you haven't registered for the 2017 Rec season.  With the forecast looking good, it is going to really feel like baseball and softball weather out there!  If you aren't sure what winter training team you are on or when your session is, please don't hesitate to ask.  You can also go to the Teams section on our main webpage, find your son or daughter's level of play, then click on the Winter training team for that level.  The only levels with two teams are Baseball 1st and 2nd Grade (AA) and 3rd and 4th Grade (AAA).

So, as far as important dates go:

  • February 18:  Winter Training begins.  Once again, Winter training runs Saturdays and Sundays through March 26th.  For those who have multiple teams at a level, we would appreciate if you would come to your assigned level.  There are approximately 90 boys in each of these levels of play, so if everyone tried to go to the later session, it would unmanageable.  Also, there was a small error in the starting times for Sunday's sessions.  Instead of them starting at 9:00, 10:00, and 11:00, they will begin at 8:30, 9:30, and 10:30 AM.  You will see change notifications coming out tonight and tomorrow with the changes.  Softball times remain the same, 12:30, 1:30, and 2:30 on Sundays.
  • Uniform Fittings:  Alfred's Sporting Goods will be on hand from 9-1 on Sundays during Winter Training to fit your child for a uniform.  We ask that you get fitted AFTER your training session in order to get the most work in the cages and fields.  There will be multiple fitting sessions, so you can plan accordingly.
  • March 1:  Late Fees imposed!!! Remember, the closer to team formation we are, the harder it is to keep competition levels the same when you join late.  So, please try to register prior to March 1.  You'll save some money, and our Player Agents will thank you later on for making their job easier.  This goes for Softball and Baseball.
  • Mid March: Date and place TBD, but we will have our coaches and safety meeting sometime in Mid to Late March.  Anyone who wants to coach or assistant coach will be required to attend.  Remember, anyone who is on the fields with our kids needs to have their Rutgers Certification and background check done.  You will be required to provide your SSN and Driver's License to have this done at the safety meeting.
  • April 1:  Rec registration closes.
  • April 15: Opening Day!  More details to come about our Opening Day ceremonies.

Thanks!!

CMLL
